C’est un très bon festival électro. J’y vais à chaque fois que je peux (c’est-à-dire tous les ans depuis que je vis à Lyon, sauf que ça tombe toujours pendant les partiels…) Je n’aime pas beaucoup le visuel de cette année, il faut dire que je ne suis pas fan de l’esthétique eighties… Je préfère de loin celui-ci (de 2007) plus psychédélique :

Paintings by Frank Stella,

an american artist who was part of the "post-painterly abstraction" movement (precursor of minimalism) during the 60's, and also part of the Optical art movement (based on optical illusions).

He was painting broad stripes of color, and the white lines you can see between all of them is the white of the canvas... (he was minutiously painting straight lines leaving equal space between them)

I love these vivid colors,

it's very helpful looking at them when the sun is hiding like today, and you see nothing but grey...

J’adore cette photo.
Elle n’est pas inconnue de quiconque étudie la photographie, puisqu’il s’agit de la première photo réalisée par Daguerre (l’inventeur du daguerréotype, un des premiers procédés de photographie – pour résumer) où apparaissent des êtres humains.

Le temps de pose (environ 10 minutes) était alors si long que les passants n’apparaissent pas sur la photo. Seul cet homme qui se fait cirer les chaussures (au coin du trottoir) est resté suffisamment longtemps immobile pour apparaître sur l’image.

This picture is known from any photography student, because it’s the first picture of Daguerre (one of the inventors of photography, to sum up) where human beings appear.

Before, the exposure time was so long (around 10 minutes) that people passing by couldn’t appear on the pictures. Only this man who is getting his shoes polished (at the bottom left) stood still long enough to appear on the picture.

I'm crazy about braids right now. I re-discover them this summer, so I spent the whole season making braids in my hair.

But I was thinking it's a summer thing.
During summer, I have a much more "loose" style than in winter (light dresses, barefoot, no make-up...) And I was thinking braids couldn't get well with the more "sophisticated" winter. But I was obviously wrong :

Braids are definitely a fall hairdress. Perfect with my beloved british-country-folk inspiration for this season :-) With a plaid shirt it adds a very cool "indian" thing. And with a flower dress or velvet jacket, it's just so in the right mood.
I'm gonna stop talking now because I feel really tired and I feel I begin to talk to say nothing.... ;-)

I found this really nice editorial from Glamour via l'anatomie de l'élégance via bakerby (I love her blog!)

Je ne suis pas forcément fan des vêtements rouges (même si j'adore le rouge pour d'autres choses, comme la décoration). Je trouve que c'est une couleur trop agressive, cependant j'aime les bijoux et accessoires rouges, et je dois reconnaître que le rouge en petite touche permet de réveiller avec classe une tenue un peu fade. (Vous noterez l'association rouge-gris-beige qui marche très bien).

I'm not a big fan of red clothes (but I like it on other things, like for decoration), I find it too aggressive, but I like red jewels and accessories and I have to admit that a little touch of red can awake with class an outfit a bit too pale. (Note the association red-grey-beige that works very well).

C'est pareil pour le visage. Pendant longtemps, je n'ai jamais (osé) colorer mes lèvres, me contentant de baume ou de gloss transparent. Pourtant le rouge à lèvres rouge permet donner de l'éclat à n'importe quelle mine, un peu pâlotte ou très bronzée !

Un grand classique. Pièce incontournable de ma garde-robe idéale. Idéale, oui, parce que je n'ai pas encore trouvé la veste en tweed parfaite.

En fait si, je l'ai trouvée, mais elle se trouve bien inaccessible dans une boutique Ralph Lauren...

Accessoirisée d'une jolie broche (un camélia Chanel par exemple) elle incarne la veste d'automne parfaite. Classique, casual, masculine mais facilement féminisable (la fameuse broche)...

...chicisable : sur une chemise blanche, un jean brut droit et des boots en daim marron, dans le plus pur style Ralph Lauren, ou à tenter en tailleur...

...rockisable : à traiter comme tous les autres blazer du moment, sur un slim et des talons par exemple, avec un petit côté british en plus ; funkisable : sur un pull ou une écharpe a rayures multicolores et un pantalon en velours côtelé, comme chez Marc by Marc Jacobs....

Elle revient en force cet automne, donc mes chances d'en trouver une qui convienne à mes exigences seront je l'espère multipliées. J'en ai d'ailleurs trouvée une très jolie chez Gap, malheureusement il y avait un tas de jolies choses qui m'ont fait tourner la tête (dont une veste de smoking en laine bouillie bleu marine à croquer, et une robe portefeuille en maille noire géniale - à la fois confortable et sexy, la combinaison parfaite pour l'hiver) et prise d'une insurmontable indécision, je suis finalement sortie bredouille du magasin.

Il me reste quelques jours de vacances, je vous fait donc un coucou rapide de Normandie où je passe ces derniers jours, après avoir passé une semaine en Italie d'où j'ai pu rapporter de jolies traces de bronzage (voir photo) (non, ce n'est pas moi sur la photo)... J'adore l'accessoirisation funky : les gros bijoux et surtout les lunettes vintage...(par contre le maillot de bain est un poil trop kitsch...) A très bientôt !

I still have a few days off, so I just make a quick hello from Normandy where I am spending these last days, after a week in Italy from where I brought back a nice suntan (see picture) (no, I'm not the girl on the picture)... I love the funky accessories : the big jewels and especially the vintage glasses... (but the swimsuit is far too kitsch for me...) See you soon !
